I'm Mary Fernández, a family photographer based in Canton Zug with over twelve years of experience documenting the moments that make family life feel full. My approach to event photography is simple: I stay close enough to catch what matters and far enough back that everyone forgets I'm there. No stiff poses, no interruptions, no directing your guests. Just honest, warm images of your family doing what they do — celebrating together.
Whether it's a first birthday in Zug city, a christening in Baar, or a backyard gathering in Cham, I bring the same quiet attention to every celebration, however big or small.

Most people hire a photographer and then spend the party worrying about the photographer. They watch their guests get positioned, lit, directed. The natural moment they were hoping to capture is already gone by the time the camera clicks.
That's not how I work.
I arrive early — before guests, before the cake, before the chaos. I learn the light in the space, find the corners where real things happen, and I stay out of the way. When your daughter runs straight into your arms the moment you put down the camera, I'm already there. When your father-in-law laughs at something only your family would find funny, I have it.
The images look like your family. Not a posed version of your family. Not a styled version. The actual people you love, in an actual moment — just more clearly seen than you'd normally notice.
This matters especially in Zug, where celebrations tend to be intimate. The community here is close-knit. People know each other; the events feel personal. Guests relax faster when the photographer isn't performing. I've worked with families across the canton — from the lakeside homes in Zug city to garden parties in Hünenberg, from communions in Baar to birthday mornings in Steinhausen — and the families who get the most from a session are the ones whose guests forgot I was there.

I recommend reaching out at least two to three months before your event. Weekend dates during spring and summer fill quickly, so earlier is better if your celebration falls in peak season. Also, you'll have enough time to prepare yourself completely to your event.

Yes. I cover events in Zug city, Baar, Cham, Rotkreuz, Steinhausen, Hünenberg, Oberägeri, Unterägeri, and surrounding areas throughout the Kanton. Travel within Kanton Zug is included in my package.

I'm experienced with a wide range of indoor environments. I work with available light wherever possible and carry professional lighting equipment for darker venues. Your images will look warm and natural regardless of the setting.

Absolutely. While my primary approach is documentary — capturing real moments as they unfold — I'm happy to pause for a few intentional group photos if that's important to you. We'll plan this together in advance so it fits naturally into the flow of your event.

You receive every strong image from your event, individually edited. For a two-hour event, that typically means at least 70 to 150 images, depending on the pace and size of the gathering.

Life happens, especially with families. I offer flexible rescheduling with reasonable notice. We'll confirm cancellation terms when you book.

Constantly. Family events almost always involve children of all ages, and I'm very comfortable working around nap times, shy toddlers, and unpredictable energy levels. Some of my favourite images come from the unscripted moments children create.
