Porto sits on the Atlantic, and from May to September a north wind called the nortada arrives most afternoons. It is why evenings feel cool here even after a hot day.

That wind is not a problem. It is one of the reasons the photos move. But it decides your fabric.

Choose something with somewhere to go: linen, cotton, light knits, anything with drape. Long skirts and dresses beat stiff shapes, because they show the wind instead of resisting it.

What struggles is structured jackets, stiff synthetics, and anything you hold down with one hand. If you cannot lift a child in it, do not wear it.
